Description

Details of Tour:

After pick up we drive north on State Highway 1, stopping at Plimmerton and Pukekura Bay for picturesque hilltop views and photo opportunities of both Mana and Kapiti Islands. On a clear day, the South Island may also be visible from these vantage points.

We then exit the highway at Raumati and follow the shore road through to Paraparaumu Beach. We stop here to view the length of the beach and the launching area of the amphibian day tour boats that drive in and cross the strip of water across to Kapiti Island.

Next stop is the amazing Southwards Car Museum, one of the best in the world featuring the most comprehensive privately owned collection of veteran and vintage cars in the southern hemisphere – Marlene Dietrich’s Cadillac, a 1915 Stutz Racer, a 1938 Maybach, a gull-winged Mercedes Benz, the Chicago Gangsters armour-plated limo, etc.

In addition, the collection includes traction engines, motorcycles, cycles and a wide variety of stationary engines, working models and early motoring curios.

The exhibition hall covers over 6,000 square metres over two levels in a purpose-built building. Another great place for photos and a coffee.

By now you will be ready to drop into one of the favorite local cafes where we will have a table reserved for you to sample your menu choice of kiwi fare and a cup of coffee.

Back on the road and we head to the township of Otaki, where you will have time for a leisurely stroll through the local shops, perhaps find a memento or two, and visit an old restored Maori church.

Heading further north to Manuka we stop off to visit a deer museum which gives interesting background history into the establishment of deer in New Zealand.

We then start making our way back to Wellington, stopping off at the Tuatara Beer Factory in Paraparaumu on the way, or a coffee shop your choice.
