Description
Details of Tour:
Following pick up, we drive north on State Highway 1, stopping at Plimmerton and Pukekura Bay for hilltop views of both Mana and Kapiti Islands and an opportunity for some great photos. On a clear day, the South Island will also be visible.
We then exit the highway at Raumati and follow the shore road through to Paraparaumu Beach, where we stop to see the length of the beach and the launching area of the amphibian tour boats that drive in and cross the strip of water across to Kapiti Island.
Next stop is the amazing Southwards Car Museum, one of the best in the world featuring the most comprehensive privately owned collection of veteran and vintage cars in the southern hemisphere – Marlene Dietrich’s Cadillac, a 1915 Stutz Racer, a 1938 Maybach, a gull-winged Mercedes Benz, the Chicago Gangsters armour-plated limo, etc.
In addition, the collection includes traction engines, motorcycles, cycles and a wide variety of stationary engines, working models and early motoring curios.
The exhibition hall covers over 6,000 square metres over two levels in a purpose-built building. Another great place for photos and a coffee.
We then start heading back to Wellington, where you will be dropped off at the destination of your choice within the city centre.
